Indication
Corneal Edema, Pain or swelling of the cornea, eye exams.
Adult Dose
Temporary Relief of Corneal Edema
1-2 drops in the affected eye (s) every 3 or 4 hours or as directed by a physician.
1-2 drops in the affected eye (s) every 3 or 4 hours or as directed by a physician.
Child Dose
Temporary Relief of Corneal Edema
1-2 drops in the affected eye (s) every 3 or 4 hours or as directed by a physician.
1-2 drops in the affected eye (s) every 3 or 4 hours or as directed by a physician.
Contraindication
Contraindicated in patients who develop allergic reactions to this medicine.
Mode of Action
Sodium chloride is the major extracellular cation. It is important in electrolyte and fluid balance, osmotic pressure control and water distribution as it restores sodium ions. It is used as a source of electrolytes and water for hydration, treatment of metabolic acidosis, priming solution in haemodialysis and treatment of hyperosmolar diabetes. It is also used as diluents for infusion of compatible drug additives.
Precaution
Precaution should be taken if patients have history of eye problems or allergies.
Side Effect
Vision may be temporarily blurred for a period after applying the drops. Burning or irritation of the eye may occur temporarily when first applied. Other side effects are redness, pain, swelling in or around the eyes, sensitivity to light, and headache.
Interaction
May affect serum concentrations of lithium.
