Introduction
Ehexin is mucolytic medication. It is used in the treatment of various respiratory tract disorders associated with excessive mucus. Ehexin should be taken with food. For better results, it is suggested to take it at the same time every day. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. It is advised not to use it for more than 14 days without doctor consultation. The most common side effects of this medicine include irritation of ear, allergic skin rash, dizziness, and headache. Talk to your doctor if you’re worried about side effects or they do not go away. Generally, it is advised not to take alcohol while on treatment. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease or if you have stomach problems. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. You must take doctor’s advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How Ehexin works
Ehexin is a mucolytic medication. It thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe and lungs making it easier to cough out.
Quick Tips
Ehexin helps in thinning and removal of the mucus (slimy and sticky substance) from the airways, thereby treats various respiratory conditions.
Measure the syrup with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon.
Inform your doctor if you have suffered or are currently suffering from any stomach, liver or kidney problem.
Do not use Ehexin for more than 14 days, without your doctor’s advice.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Administration

Adult Dose
Tablet: Adults: 8-16 mg 3 times daily. Syrup: Adults: The recommended daily dose is 2 to 4 teaspoonful 3 times. Initially 4 teaspoonful 3 times daily and then as required.

Tablet: Children over 10 years: 8-16 mg 3 times daily. Children 5-10 years: 4 mg 3 times daily. Syrup: Children: Suggested dosage for children under 2 years is 1/4 teaspoonful 3 times daily, 2-5 years 1/2 teaspoonful 3 times daily 5-10 years 1 teaspoonful 3 times daily.

Contraindicated to those who are hypersensitive to Bromhexine Hydrochloride.

Precaution
History of peptic ulceration; asthmatic patients. Severe hepatic or renal impairment.
Side Effect
GI side effects; headache, dizziness, sweating, skin rashes. Inhalation: Cough or bronchospasm.
