Description

Introduction
Nodia 10 is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. It helps in slowing down the progression of the disease and provide relief from pain, swelling, and redness. Nodia 10 can be taken with or without food. You should take it regularly and at the same time each day to get the maximum benefit from it. Keep taking it as recommended by your doctor and complete the dose even if you feel better. Using this medicine may cause some common side effects such as nausea, headache, dyspepsia, rash, diarrhea, increased liver enzymes, and respiratory tract infection. Consult with your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away with time or get worse. Your doctor may help with ways to reduce or prevent these symptoms. To make sure the medicine is safe for you, before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any problems with your heart, kidneys, or liver. Also, tell your doctor of all the other medicines you are taking. How to use Nodia 10
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nodia 10 may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Nodia 10 works
Nodia 10 blocks the action of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for inflammation, swelling and redness associated with certain autoimmune diseases. It suppresses the underlying disease process, rather than simply treating the disease.
What if you forget to take Nodia 10?
If you miss a dose of Nodia 10, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Nodia 10 to control the symptoms and slow down the progression of rheumatoid arthritis.
It will take 6-8 weeks for Nodia 10 to work. Hence, keep taking the medicine.
Get blood tests done every 4 weeks. This is to make sure that Nodia 10 is not harming your liver or blood counts.
Avoid alcohol when taking Nodia 10 as it could harm your liver.
Do not take it during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you become pregnant while taking Nodia 10.
Nodia 10 may increase the risk of infection. Avoid being close to people with cold, flu or other contagious illnesses.
Tell your doctor if you experience nausea or diarrhea.

Contraindication
Significant hepatic impairment, compromised immune function including bone marrow dysplasia or severe uncontrolled infection; concurrent vaccination with live vaccines. Pregnancy, lactation.
Mode of Action
Leflunomide is an immunomodulating agent and DMARD. It inhibits pyrimidine synthesis by inhibiting dihydroorotate dehydrogenase enzyme activity resulting in antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory effects.
Precaution
Renal and hepatic impairment; Women with childbearing potential. Caution should be taken for those female with child bearing potential who are not using reliable contraception and for the subject of renal insufficiency. Leflunomide should be stopped before becoming pregnant. Liver function should be monitored before starting treatment. Monitor blood counts and BP regularly. Avoid alcohol. Lactation: not known if excreted in breast milk

Interaction
Cholestyramine and activated charcoal may decrease plasma concentration of active metabolite. Concurrent use of methotrexate and other hepatotoxic drugs may increase the risk of hepatotoxicity. Rifampicin increases serum levels of the active metabolite. Potentially Fatal: May enhance the adverse effects of live vaccines.
