Description

Introduction
Tiozol is an antifungal medication which treats vaginal infections. It works by killing the fungi in the vaginal by destroying their cell membrane. Tiozol is for external use only. You should use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It is best to use it at night time for better results. Do not use the medicine for longer than your doctor has told you to and let him or her know if your condition does not improve after 3 days of treatment. The affected area should be clean before using the medicine. You must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine. Do not stop using it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better. Some of the common side effects include vaginal burning sensation, itching, and irritation. If the side effects bother you or do not go away, let your doctor know. Avoid direct contact of the medicine with your eyes. In case of direct contact, wash your eyes with water and seek immediate medical attention. Do not take it if you are pregnant or could become pregnant unless your doctor has told you to. It makes condom and diaphragm less effective, ask your doctor about effective birth control method.

How Tiozol works
Tiozol is an antifungal medication. It kills and stops the growth of the fungi by destroying its cell membrane, thereby treating your skin infection.

Tiozol helps treat vaginal fungal infections. It reduces vaginal burning, itching, and discharge.
It is inserted into the vagina using an applicator, usually at night before going to bed.
Avoid contact with your eyes. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
It can damage condoms and diaphragms and make them ineffective at preventing pregnancy. Ask your doctor about other suitable methods of preventing pregnancy.

Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to imidazole-derivative azole antifungal. Self-medication in women with diabetes or HIV infection. Girls <12 yr. _ Mode of Action Tioconazole, a synthetic azole antifungal, interferes w/ synthesis of ergosterol which is needed for fungal cell membrane synthesis. Precaution Self-medication in patient w/ DM, HIV infection. Girls <12 yr (vag). Pregnancy and lactation. Patient Counselling Vag: Avoid sexual intercourse. Condoms and diaphragms may be damaged and fail to prevent pregnancy or STD, may resume usage 3 days after treatment. Avoid using tampons, douches, spermicides or other vag products. Lactation: not known whether distributed into milk, manufacturer recommends women discontinue breastfeeding while receiving drug _ Side Effect 1-10% Vulvovaginal burning, vaginitis, pruritus (5-6%),Headache (5%),Infection (3%),Abdominal pain (2%),Dysuria, nocturia, pharyngitis, and rhinitis (<2%) _
